DUBAI – It is an unusual race but one that brings to light the Dubai ski resort, which consumes a lot of energy and is not very ecological, built in 2005. This Friday, September 17, about 400 people participated in a 5 km race on snow. inside the covered ski area, located in the “Mall of the Emirates”.
As you can see in our video, the runners braved unusual temperatures. It was -4 degrees Celsius in this season. A figure that contrasts with the outside temperatures that exceeded 40 degrees in the desert country.
“International racing has become more accessible because who would have thought you could do a race in Dubai in the snow?” says Irene Divitt, a South African who lives in Dubai.
For this second edition of running on snow, about 46 nationalities were represented. The race was open to men and women over 16 years of age. The Dubai Sports Council organized the event to encourage people to engage in more sports activities away from the scorching heat.
