The president of the Russian Union of Travel Industry (PCT), Andrei Ignatiev, named the leading countries in terms of the number of tourists visiting Russia. His words are reported by RIA Novosti.
According to Ignatiev, most tourists come to Russia from the Persian Gulf countries, Germany and France. At the same time, the flow of foreign visitors has become 30 times less than in 2019. The PCT president stressed that it is possible to restore inbound tourism to the level of pre-pandemic indicators by 2023. “This is real because there is not much deferred demand . But one should not sit and wait for better times, but work hard and invest, “he added.
Previously, foreigners simplified the process to obtain a tourist visa to Russia for up to six months; now, to enter, it is enough to present a hotel reservation. Previously, foreign travelers could receive an entry document for up to a month or up to six months only if the state had a principle of reciprocity with Russia.
